Planescape Torment user reviews

Highlights:

  • Amazing game.
  • The graphics still hold up ok, so does the gameplay and If you played Baldur's gate you probably know what your in for.
  • If you like NWN and Baldur's gate then you will love this.
  • The characters, the storyline, everything flows towards perfection. Simply said, this is one of the best games ever created.
  • This is the second most requested game on GOG for a reason; it is, by far, one of the best games ever made in the genre (found in 8 reviews).
  • Since I can't avoid gushing, I'll keep it short: Torment is, quite simply, the best RPG ever made for any system, anywhere, ever.
  • You can, in fact, get through the entire game without fighting in a single battle (found in 2 reviews).
  • And it's spread out through the entire game both as little things that jog his memory and as signs of his passing.
  • It's powerful stuff, among the best stories ever told.Another hint? Go as a mage when you can.
  • Every single situation or conflict has multiple solutions, where the most satisfying one often is to talk your way out of the fight.
  • Every time you are defeated in combat, you simply wake up on a slab in the mortuary.
  • And every time I found something new in it.
  • It took a couple of hours to get used to reading a few pages of text every time you talk to a sprite, whether they are an important character or not.
  • One of my favorite games of all time.
  • The only D&D RPG where Wisdom and Charisma are the most important stats...
  • We will never see a game like Torment ever again.
  • This game defines the PC Role Playing Game and is the pinnacle of classic PC gaming.
  • This is a masterpiece, overshadowed by none when it comes to storytelling and interactive dialogue (forget about mass effect).
  • Unlike games such as Mass Effect, they too continue to develop until the very end of the game.
  • Truly, while Bioware did an impressive job with Baldur's Gate storyline and characters, they really outdid themselves in Planescape Torment.
  • First: it is almost certainly the best cRPG ever made (found in 6 reviews).

Main character:

  • In addition, the main character himself is the focus of the story and you know almost nothing about yourself.
  • The main character's weapons are clubs, daggers, and fists, with nary a sword or bow or magical staff in sight.
  • An amnesiac main character isn't very original, but it is the way the story is told that makes it so engaging.
  • It's possible to recruit seven different characters, but only five can accompany the main character.
  • Suffice it to say the main character is known simply as the Nameless One, waking up on a slab in a mortuary and meeting a friendly face.

Writing and story:

  • Honestly, it's the best written game I've ever played.
  • You can even defeat the final boss through dialogue should you choose.
  • This is a game to play if you like a good story, a different world and enjoy reading.
  • It has a great story enriched with details, great dialogues and atmosphere.
  • It had fantastic writing, a great story, and great characters.
  • Personally, I recommend a high charisma and wisdom (18 or 19) to unlock some interesting dialogue.
  • Another interesting thing about this is it is not played in the same way traditional RPGs are played.
  • In short, Planescape: Torment is a true RPG story.
  • In conclusion, if you are a true RPG fan, you owe it to yourself to play this game.
  • Key conversations can take a long time to absorb all of the information.
  • Overall well written story, Characters that stand out through the ages, and a must buy for those whom love RPG's.

Combat System:

  • The only complaint I could ever really have is that the combat system can be a tad convoluted, but not really to its detriment.

Graphics:

  • The spell animations are AWESOME.
  • The spell effects have also aged really well.
  • You play it for it's amazing writing, and frankly impressive spell effects.
  • I know what amazing gameplay hides itself behind poor graphics and dumb npc`s.

Sound and voice acting:

  • Although there isn't a ton of it, the voice acting is another major strong point in this game that I wanted to mention.
  • Soundtrack is atmospheric and voice acting is very well made.

Recommended for:

  • If you liked Baldur's Gate or Neverwinter Nights
  • If you like to read long and well written dialogues
  • If you like Forgotten Realms settings
  • If you like D&D rules and games
  • If you like infinity engine games
  • If you miss traditional RPGs
  • If you enjoy well written games

Dark Souls II: Scholar of the First Sin user reviews

New Players:

  • Would not recommend to new players.
  • The ""Artificial Difficulty"" that the souls franchise has never reigned true, it only punished for new players.

Original Dark Souls:

  • It doesnt matter if you have played the original DS2 you'll get surprised in this version quite often.
  • If you haven't played the original DS2 yet, this is a must buy
  • Just recently there has been a mod released for original DS2 and SotFS that fixes the durability bug completly without reducing your FPS.
  • CE Modders have been a nuisance now forever in original DS2 and you still refuse to re-activate VAC? *sigh* Well there's something called Softbann.
  • But, if you did fully enjoy original DS2, you will appreciate the changes they did with SotFS and have your fun. 15/20 bucks don't seem much then.
  • That said, it still has a lot of the problems that came with the Original DS2 being a mediocre PC port.
  • Now, this isn't the original DS2, so there are areas that are a lot harder than the original, such as Heide's Tower of Flame.
  • If you played the original DS2 but still want more from it/get back into then this is worth ht money.
  • April Fools?I THINK NOT.Dark Souls II: Scholar of the First Sin is a ""Directors Cut"" edition of the original Dark Souls II.
  • I've been playing games from Software since Demon Souls and really enjoyed the original Dark Souls II.
  • They're much more difficult in my opinion than this games predecessor and theres a lot more of them than compared to the original Dark Souls 2.
  • Im rather annoyed that I bought this game and uninstalled the original Dark Souls II for this not to work.
  • I highly recommend that you purchase the game no question. For everyone else who had bought the original Dark Souls 2 I still recommended upgrading.
  • This game looks GORGEOUS compared to the original Dark Souls and even compared to what I've seen of the original Dark Souls 2.
  • They also did a much better job on this compared to the original Dark Souls, as there is no longer a 30fps cap and there are actual video options.

NPC Invaders:

  • It's a nice little effect and helps making the world more lively.- More NPC invaders.
  • SotFS now adds several new NPC invaders who will invade you throughout your playthrough.
  • NPC invaders that know high level spells even at low levels.

For new players:

  • Would not recommend to new players.
  • The ""Artificial Difficulty"" that the souls franchise has never reigned true, it only punished for new players.

New enemy placement:

  • In some areas the new enemy placement is ridiculous! To a point where it is plain annoying and not really harder.
  • Dark Souls II was easier than its predecessor, and the new enemy placement in Scholar addresses that problem.
  • New enemy placement widely makes 0 sense.
  • New enemy placements are smart, but also mean and requires you to think things out before going in blind.
  • New enemy placement is minor + it does NOT include the DLCs!!!2.
  • New lore, new enemy placement, hightened difficulty, and better co-op make it a much better value for money.

Level design:

  • In this part of the game the level design is extremely dull which makes exploring boring.
  • I fucking died because of that. this game is just not good. the level designs are just boring! The only thing I enjoyed was dlc.
  • See, the level design and enemy move sets in this game make it so that you're going to be wasting A LOT of time.

Durability Bug:

  • Some weapons are unplayable due to this durability bug, they melt like butter after 3-4 strikes.
  •  DURABILITY bug still not fixed.
  • They have been well aware of the 60fps durability bug and yet have not addressed it in this release.

Base Game:

  • Wait for a sale. About the game itself:400+ hours with the original base game, I can tell you I think the game is fun, but fun doesn't make it good.
  • If you own the base game already, with no DLC then buy asap.
  • Community of the base game is going to die out soon so there will be very few people left to play with.
  • I feel they made the base game harder without any other reason than saying FU to new players.
  • There are also a lot of recycled / reused Enemys and even a 1:1 boss (lol) from the base game.
  • Some textures in the base game levels still look like cat vomit.

60 PFS:

  • Core 2 Quad Q9550 processor and Radeon HD 6850 video card = 60 fps mostly, with drops only to around 50 fps in some places.
  • Weapons still break twice as fast on 60 fps.
  • The durability degredation has not been adjusted to 60 FPS.

Users like:

  • However, after hopping in game and running to Majula, I noticed that the lighting/shadows were MUCH better than in dx9.
  • For others who played it on PS3, or 360, I'd definitely say get it also since it runs much better if you have the PC to handle it.
  • It's cheaper, and, on the next generation consoles, will support MUCH better graphics and flow, resulting in MUCH more efficient gameplay.
  • Much better than the vanilla game, all the dlc areas are great.
  • Dark Souls II has worse storytelling/worldbuilding/lore than the rest of the series, but has much better gameplay and build variety.
  • All in all great game, worth the money to purchase and the time to play it.
  • Great game! So much pain in the ass.
  • It's a great game, well made.
  • This is a Great game must buy that is it.
  • Great game, would recommend.
  • As a huge fan of the series, I say that Dark Souls 2 is a good game.
  • But seriously, it's a good game, 10/10 would be bent over the table by FromSoft again.

Terraria user reviews

Dig, fight, explore, build! Nothing is impossible in this action-packed adventure game. Four Pack also available!

Users comments:

Highlights:

  • Terraria is simply a great game (found on 28 reviews).
  • Terraria is an amazingly fun to play 2D sandbox game. You start off with nothing but as you discover Terraria you notice how much is in this game (found in 6 reviews).
  • Not laggy, Smooth game play and support for co-op, can sometimes be ram-eater for your PC.
  • Recommended for anyone who enjoyed survival games like Minecraft, and to any one who loves discovery, the unkown, and dungeons.
  • This game should set the standards for upcoming sandbox games: lots of items, the developers stay in touch with the community, and has so many more enemies than any other game.
  • Terraria is a fun game and even more fun with friends.
  • Lasts a long time, with more than 100 hours of play.
  • Better than Minecraft in many areas (found in 15 reviews).
  • The price is cheap for the amount of content and hours of fun you will have with this game.
  • Boss fights are epic, specially if you play with your friends.

Gameplay:

  • There's a lot to explore in this game and it's randomly generated too, all over the world you'll find chests to loot with nice goodies in including money and items that you can use, it's very fun to follow a cave structure down into the depths of world whilst lighting the entire path up with torches.
  • The combat is pretty straight forward and basic, the range weapons (Bows and Guns) shoot very similar, you point where you want to shoot and it shoots there, simple as.
  • Like Minecraft, you can build, but unlike Minecraft you won't be spending too much of your time building, nor will you really care on the appearance of your house all that much either. The only real building you'll be doing is making an arena to fight bosses, and making little flats for the NPCs to live in.
  • You will build a house so that random people and can move in take up a room and rip you off with prices.

Graphics:

  • These are very basic elements of the game, it's a pixel game, but the graphics complete the gameplay with their simplistic but comforting style

Recommended for

  • If you do buy Terraria then after finishing it check out "The story of Red Cloud" mod/story/map because it's amazing as well.
  • If you like to play with friends.
  • If you liked Minecraft.

Evoland user reviews

Evoland is a journey through the history of action/adventure gaming, allowing you to unlock new technologies, gameplay systems and graphic upgrades as you progress through the game. Inspired by many cult series that have left their mark in the RPG video gaming culture, Evoland takes you from monochrome to full 3D graphics and from active...

Users comments:

Highlights:

  • What starts off as a promising concept falls badly flat.
  • As soon as you unlock "3D" the game just becomes alternately a bad zelda clone and a bad Final Fantasy clone (found in 8 reviews).
  • The puzzles requiring you to switch between different "eras" are brilliant. Pity that this idea was so sparingly and arbitrarily applied.
  • The game is ridiculously short, just a couple hours long, without replayability options.
  • Puzzles are fun (found in 3 reviews)
  • An original way to travel through the history of RPG video games.
  • Evoland is a nice piece of nostalgia for anyone that played the old Zelda, Final Fantasy, and Dragon Quest games. And I'm talking way back, like starting with the originals in each series. There are references abound, making for some good fun.
  • Very fun at first and is a good way to learn more about how video games evolved.
  • For the same price you'll find games like Terraria on which you'll spend hundreds of hours.
  • Fun to play.
  • Interesting concept, but nothing else.
  • Cute, well done (found in 5 reviews).

Gameplay

  • The gameplay is what you would expect from this genre, though very thin in depth. It feels more like a snapshot of the older games than an actual copy. A taste rather than a full meal.
  • As of now, this is the worst final boss I've ever seen, adding a huge difficulty spike right at the end for free and gratuitous rage (found in 8 reviews).
  • Unnecessary amount of random encounters when you switch to Final Fantasy style (found in 14 reviews).
  • There's a card game parody of Triple Triad from Final Fantasy 8 but it's much more simplistic and it's called Double Twin... so if you enjoy card meta games, you'll enjoy that little inclusion.
  • Evoland offers real time battles and turn based battles. The real time battles can be frustrating at times and the turn based battles seem lackluster in a game with so few items and so little to gain from turn based combat.

Recommended for:

  • If you like old school RPGs.
  • If you like revival games.
  • If you like mini-games.
  • Zelda, Final Fantasy and Dragon Quest fans.
  • If you miss playing your old SNES games.
  • Fans of early 8-bit games.

System Requirements:

  • OS:Windows XP SP2 or later
  • Processor:1.7 GHz single-core
  • Memory:1 GB RAM
  • Graphics:Directx 9.0c compatible video card
  • DirectX®:9.0c
  • Hard Drive:100 MB HD space

Pillars of Eternity user reviews

Prepare to be enchanted by a world where the choices you make and the paths you choose shape your destiny. Obsidian Entertainment, the developer of Fallout: New Vegas™ and South Park: The Stick of Truth™, together with Paradox Interactive is proud to present Pillars of Eternity.

Users comments:

Highlights:

  • A true homage to the infinity engine games.
  • A modern blend of all your favourite IE RPG's of the late 90's.
  • Considered the True spiritual successor of Baldur's Gate series.
  • There’s a lot to love about Pillars of Eternity. The way it liberates players by letting them play their own way at their own pace through the story, by letting them decide on both their motivations and actions, the interesting game world and lore, memorable characters and a very tactical combat system.
  • Voice acting is correct, but not particularly noteworthy.
  • No multi-class characters.
  • The story is intriguing and the named party members were interesting characters that weren't just flat generic fantasy warriors.
  • It has a nice aesthetic and interface, good music, and decent production values all-around.
  • A masterpiece that has it's rightful place among the legends of the genre (Baldur's Gate, Icewind Dale and Planescape Torment).
  • It has been so long since we've seen a game that came anywhere near what Baldur's Gate 1 in particular established. The kind of isolinear game where early encounters were tough, especially for low level parties, and where you were provided with a slew of choice as far as party members and classes.

Combat System

  • Combat system is challenging, but doesn't follow D&D Rules.
  • Your party members are dumb in combat. If you dont pause to issue commands, they will quite frequently end up not doing ANYTHING at all.
  • Lack of AI for player NPCs.
  • Before you get your full party, the game can be super challenging.
  • Deep, tactical turn-based and real-time gameplay.
  • The improvements to the combat are simple and effective - limiting resting means that you can't spam it after every single fight (slightly undermined by the fact that there seems to be at least one camping kit to find in every area, but whatever) and by preventing the player from gaining an unfair advantage by buffing with spells and potions pre-combat.

Character creation

  • The quantity of options to define your character at the beginning can be overwhelming.

Story

  • The story line is well written with excellent character development.

Issues

  • One of the big problems are the loading screens. 50% of gaming time is loading screens, sometimes for ridiculously small level parts.

Recommended for:

  • If you like Baldur's game saga.
  • If you like Icewind Dale saga.
  • If you like Planescape Torment.
  • If you like Neverwinter Nights.
  • If you like Dragon Age saga.
  • If you enjoyed old Infinity Engine.
  • For Baldur's gate fans.
  • If you like CRPGs, you'll love this game.

System Requirements:

  • OS: OS X 10.6.3 Leopard 64-bit or newer
  • Processor: Intel Core i5-540M @ 2.53 GHz
  • Memory: 4 GB RAM
  • Graphics: ATI Radeon HD 6750M or NVIDIA GeForce GT 330M
  • Hard Drive: 14 GB available space

Shadowrun: Dragonfall - Director's Cut (PC) user reviews

Harebrained Schemes' biggest Shadowrun game to date, and the definitive Shadowrun RPG experience available on PC. Now a standalone title with tons of new content & improvements!

Users comments:

Highlights:

  • Dragonfall takes the same basic formula, with lots of small improvements. The new UI and VFX put a bit of extra and much welcome polish on the game (found in 17 reviews).
  • The game itself is an RPG with turn based combat, with real time exploration smoothly (for the most part) transitioning to turn based when the combat starts.
  • An expanded and improved version of the Dragonfall DLC for Shadowrun Returns, this Director's cut cleans up the user interface, adds some new quests, allows for a few new endings, and has lots of achievements to grab. Really though, Dragonfall was already good when it was a "DLC", and as a bigger and improved stand-alone game it has not lost any of its quality.
  • 15-20 hours to complete the main campaign.
  • That Dragonfall director's cut mission has little new stuff in comparison with the "classic" version: aside of better graphics and some new missions and dialogs, it's basically the same thing.
  • Long story short - amazing single player experience.
  • One of best old school RPG's I've played since Fallout 2 and Planescape: Torment.

Story

  • By the way, your companions are all very well written, having many memorable lines and moments.
  • The Shadowrun universe can be intimidating at first, it was for me at least. Though this actually can help gameplay, as you are thrown head first into a living breathing world; which wasn't made for the player but rather the player is a part of it.
  • The story is simply amazing and the side missions are intense.
  • Phenomenal storyline with appropriate twists and turns.

Graphics and art Style

  • Graphics and art style are really well-made, with vibrant colors even for a game that takes place in the "shadows".
  • There's no voice acting.
  • This game is a top-down / isometric rpg design.

Gameplay:

  • Story and character development are trully engaging. One of the few games that actually manages to make you care for your team outside combat situations.
  • They need to hurry up and get the campaign editor set up and give author's the tools to port their work over.
  • The story and game mechanics are delightful, overall skill usage was diversified compared to original Dead Man's Switch campaign and a bunch of other improvements were made (more optional missions, manual save points, selling items option, etc.).

Combat System

  • The mechanics aren't exactly deep, but they're much more in depth than Shadowrun Returns, and they focus on fast, fun tactics.

Recommended for:

  • Fans of Shadowrun, cyberpunk in general, or just turn based strategy.
  • If you like cyberpunk worlds, with great story.
  • If you like old school, pen and paper RPGs.
  • If you like turn based, isometric RPGs, you will love Shadowrun. Lots of fun, great replay value.

System Requirements:

  • OS: OSX 10.6
  • Processor: Intel-based Macs only (x86-compatible, 1.4GHz or better)
  • Memory: 2 GB RAM
  • Graphics: Modern 3D graphics card with at least 256MB of addressable memory
  • Hard Drive: 2 GB available space

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt user reviews (PC)

The Witcher is a story-driven, next-generation open world role-playing game, set in a visually stunning fantasy universe, full of meaningful choices and impactful consequences. In The Witcher, you play as Geralt of Rivia, a monster hunter tasked with finding a child from an ancient prophecy.

Users comments:

Highlights:

  • The story itself is awesome: the locations range from your Northern Realm's Velen (no man's land), the free and beautiful city of Novigrad and The Skellige Isles (very norse-like in several aspects, feels like you're in the land of the Vikings to an extent).
  • Vast open world that IS NOT randomly created and filled with dull stuff.
  • This is the first open world Witcher game.
  • Awesome game, reminds me of Red Dead Redemption, Skyrim, and Dragon Age. Bringing the best of those together in a world bigger than GTA V is truly something magnificent. While also telling a very good and mature story in a beautiful setting.
  • You can import your save file from previous witcher games or answer questions during your beard shave which will shape the game.
  • For those who have enjoyed previous Witcher games, there's little that will be unexpected- combat with unique enemies that requires forethought, but now with a crossbow, more gear and better lock control. The real improvements are in atmosphere and exploration.
  • The Witcher 3 can be rough around the edges and other games are definitely doing some more impressive things technically, but the overall Witcher 3 experience is definitely greater than the sum of its parts (found in 3 reviews).
  • Good story, could be hard to follow if you have not read the books but the characters and events are excellent.
  • Game is pretty long, takes about 100 hours to complete both main and side missions.
  • The only action RPG that weaves side quests into main quests making them matter and have an actual impact in the main story.

Main story and side quests

  • The game is separated into 3 questing categories. Main storyline, secondary and witcher contracts each of which has its own story and memorable moments. The lore will keep players engaged.
  • You actually get to feel like a real witcher\monster hunter by taking on some really fun witcher contracts.
  • This game has the best side quests ever. They‘re funny, cruel, sad and sometimes ridiculous (in a good way).

Graphics

  • Simply stunning. It's the best looking RPG I have played and the places I got to visit especially later in the game made my jaw drop left and right.
  • On the technical side the game runs really smooth, although with certain drops from 60 FPS to ~40 FPS.

Gameplay:

  • While the game is fairly easy on the lower difficulties, it becomes brutal on the hardest difficulty, Death March, exploration and side quests becoming the only way to survive during the early stages of the game, the difficulty becoming way more bearable once you go higher up in level (you also need to use potions/oils alot early on in order to survive the contracts).
  • The Witcher 3 also has a game inside a game. It is called gwent. It‘s a card game and it can be really addicting (found in 3 reviews).
  • Traveling by walking, running, horseback, swimming, boat immersion and fast travel requires signposts instead of just a game about instant traveling all over. Exploration can also bring out more quests you've never seen before.
  • Simple yet advanced combat system, e.g, potions, oils, bombs, decoctions, etc.
  • Controls and combat system are different from TW2. The combat got easier and requires less strategy. Although the combat was made simpler, it is not boring at all, and the difficulty is adjustable so the strategy becomes necessary sometimes.
  • Crafting system is superb and, true to immersion, weapons and armor must be physically contracted to smiths for crafting.
  • The combat is best compared to Dark Souls and Monster Hunter, as long as you're not overlevelled or playing a low difficulty setting.

Sound:

  • The voice acting is great, much better than Witcher 2 and feels far more professional.

Recommended for:

  • If you like open worlds and action RPGs.
  • For Geralt de Rivia fans.
  • If you liked previous Witcher games or books.
  • Get this game if you want, heavy story, tons of quests, beautiful landscape, legit dark fantasy feels and weighted skilled-required combat that's not just mindless hack and slash or pause-planning.

System Requirements:

  • OS: 64-bit Windows 7 or 64-bit Windows 8 (8.1)
  • Processor: Intel CPU Core i5-2500K 3.3GHz / AMD CPU Phenom II X4 940
  • Memory: 6 GB RAM
  • Graphics: Nvidia GPU GeForce GTX 660 / AMD GPU Radeon HD 7870
  • Hard Drive: 35 GB available space

Rocket League user reviews

Soccer meets driving once again in the long-awaited, physics-based multiplayer-focused sequel to Supersonic Acrobatic Rocket-Powered Battle-Cars! Choose a variety of high-flying vehicles equipped with huge rocket boosters to score amazing aerial goals and pull-off incredible game-changing saves!

Users comments:

Highlights:

  • It's a sequel to Supersonic Acrobatic Rocket-Powered Battle-Cars (found in 16 reviews).
  • Hours upon hours of fun (found on 3 reviews).
  • Easy to pick up, but hard to master game (found in 8 reviews).
  • Single player consists of quick match with the A.I or local and a season mode. Season mode is well detailed, you can choose your team, how many players per team, how long the season will be and more.
  • This game is very addicting and awesome! Best to play with friends! (found in 10 reviews).
  • Rocket League is an incredibly good multiplayer game with great visuals, lots of customization options and a number of different maps.
  • Really fun multiplayer and cross platform so there's a lot of people playing.
  • Supports 1v1, 2v2, 3v3 and 4v4 which offer very different experience.
  • Car customization options (found in 8 reviews).

Gameplay:

  • The gameplay is flawless, making it really easy for new players to pick up, but allowing for an insanely high skill ceiling where the top players can really pull of some amazing skills (found in 4 reviews).
  • Various ways to play with friends including up to 4 player split screen (found in 8 reviews).
  • Rocket League is a football game like none other. It is also a surprisingly deep game considering the mechanics are literally: go fast, slow down, (double) jump, slide and boost.
  • The game modes are fun, but not very different from each other (found in 2 reviews).
  • Since the game has high skill ceiling, experienced players can crush any other ones.
  • You will accumulate points by scoring goals, clearing the balls, passing the ball in the centre, making an assist or, like myself, manage to do a hat trick.

Recommended for:

  • If you like Supersonic Acrobatic Rocket-Powered Battle-Cars.

System Requirements:

  • OS: Windows Vista SP2 or Newer
  • Processor: 2.0 GHz Dual core
  • Memory: 2 GB RAM
  • Graphics: Nvidia 8800 or ATI 2900
  • DirectX: Version 9.0c
  • Network: Broadband Internet connection

Ark: Survival Evolved user reviews

As a man or woman stranded naked, freezing & starving on a mysterious island, you must hunt, harvest, craft items, grow crops, & build shelters to survive. Use skill and cunning to kill or tame & ride the Dinosaurs & primeval creatures roaming the land, & team up with hundreds of players or play locally!

Users comments:

Highlights:

  • One of the best games in years and certainly the best survival game around (found in 4 reviews).
  • You can play Ark: Survival Evolved both as a single player game, as well as in multiplayer mode, either on public or privately hosted servers.
  • You can try to tame and ride dinosaurs.
  • Great private server options and a single player mode.
  • Great leveling system (found on 10 reviews).

Gameplay:

  • On your own is going to take a long time to make a study house and gather materials.
  • Crafting is very seamless, pretty much a basic system though, which works just fine for replayablity. Repairs are on the spot until you get better items then you'll use the Smithy. You can refine items so they won't break when you level higher (found on 12 reviews).
  • You'll get killed constantly, either by a player or by a dino.
  • It's easy to get killed by high level players while you're a newbie.
  • The community that is sheltered by official servers is incredibly toxic. If you don't have an "in" with one of the supertribes that belong to a server, you're probably going to get raided/killed in a few days (found in 4 reviews).
  • It's easier to play on PVE servers or a private server with friends (found on 6 reviews).

Issues:

  • The developers of ARK are constantly updating the game with patches to increase optimization and bugfixing. They're always adding new content.
  • Optimization is pretty bad which means you need a high end system to play (found on 4 reviews).
  • The company does not intend to wipe/reset the official servers, so superclans get richer, while scattered tribes and solo players get poorer.
  • The graphics are good, but the performance issues are huge (found on 12 reviews).
  • This lag isn't a problem on most local/private servers.

Shadowrun: Hong Kong user reviews

Shadowrun: Hong Kong is the third standalone game in Harebrained Schemes’ critically-acclaimed Shadowrun cRPG series. Experience the most impressive Shadowrun yet with an all new crew, expanded magic and cyberware, a revamped Matrix, an upgraded Shadowrun Editor, and much more!

Users comments:

Background:

  • If you don't like CRPG's, lots of text, and a slower, more methodical approach, or you didn't like the first two games, then chances are you won't like this.
  • Those familiar with the first two games may earn more from the reading experience: The lingo and dialogue of the Shadowrun universe are unique and endearing. It is not "Star Trek"-style technobabble; it all makes sense in this dark, urban fantasy.
  • Quite possibly the best game in the Shadowrun Returns series, and definitely a sign that Harebrained is taking their job seriously (seen in 4 reviews).
  • If you liked Dragonfall and the original Shadowrun Returns then Hong Kong takes everything that was good about those and multiplies it to the nth degree (seen in 30 reviews).
  • All in all, I'm loving this game, and Harebrained Studios keeps putting out better and better stuff. Keep your eyes peeled for more of their work (found in 2 reviews).
  • If you are new to the serie and curious about the setting, this is a good chapter and it's self contained (as Dragonfall was self contained from Dead Man Switch.).

Story:

  • The story draws you in, with yet a different take on the shadowrun business with memorable characters. Sadly you don't get to see a lot of Hong Kong as a city, confined to a few areas in the slum. And the main story feels very railroaded.
  • It's pretty short (less than 20 hours).
  • Some interesting Runs to do. Such as: Breaking into a Corporate office and messing up the Feng Shui (found in 3 reviews)

Music:

  • I love the new soundtrack, it's very moody and often fits the theme of a particular run perfectly.

Gameplay:

  • The tactical combat, the freedom of character creation, and the a-la-carte missions should appeal to the more goal-oriented RPG fans among us.
  • Character creation is the same as previous games.
  • Huge number of skill dependent dialogue options.

Recommended for:

  • If you like stories with interesting characters
  • If you like well written stories
  • If you enjoyed the Shadowrun series, this is the best adventure until now
